Dice Duel

The Crooked Candle

The Crooked Candle was the warmest tavern in the valley.

Its regulars played dice by the fire every night, on dice made by the Dicewright, the best dice maker anyone had heard of. Each of his dice had a little life in it.

One winter the Night Landlord came with a ledger, a ring of rusty keys and a lease nobody remembered signing. He cursed the regulars, and now every night they wake as creatures and wait at the dice tables. He scattered the Dicewright's living dice among them, and the Dicewright vanished. Only his old friend the Peddler still keeps a stall in the corner.

Sit down, traveler. Let's win them back.

Midnight Munch

The Midnight Diner

The grill never cools at the Midnight Diner.

Behind the counter the chef cat keeps the pusher full of pancakes, coffee, eggs and strawberries, and a good push sends a whole pile spilling over the edge. Keep the plates moving through twelve rounds and you'll make it to sunrise.

Not every regular is friendly. The Critic, the Inspector, the Line Cook and the Night Owl each turn up with a rule of their own, and they don't leave until the order is filled. Beat the night and the next world opens, from the Candy Factory to the Alien Arcade.
